Paper Cape founder, Alex Golden had two goals when she launched her collection of heirloom quality clothing in classic styles. First, she wanted to help dress kids in comfortable clothes that always looked put together and, secondly, she wanted to make hand-me-downs cool again!
After a decade of working for leading retail brands, Alex became increasingly aware and troubled by the fast fashion culture, and the trend of disposable clothing. She wanted to create clothing that could be worn by all your kids and passed along to another family! Just like the clothing that inspired her – a pair of 30-year-old overalls her husband once wore as boy.
We think that Paper Cape more than delivers on its founder’s goals with an exceptional line of classic clothing for modern babies and kids. The brand caters to parents who prefer quality to quantity with a collection that offers mix-and-match items in sensible styles that can be washed and worn, year after year, and always staying soft and comfortable!
Setting the brand apart is its use of Pima Cotton, a softer and longer-lasting fabric. With fibres 80% longer than conventional cotton, the strands have fewer breaking points meaning less pilling and a superior ability to stand the test of time, even when worn by the most active kids!
In the design and manufacturing process, Paper Cape has put thoughtful details into their line that show they care deeply about slow fashion, ethical production and sustainability. The brand promises to always put people first, and strives to ensure every step of the production process – from the material used to the factories they partner with – is ethical and sustainable, leaving a positive legacy for children.
The collection offers an assortment of comfortable pants, dresses, tops with adorable peter pan collars and timeless graphics as well as their assortment of amazing pajamas in sizes 3mos – 5T.
Bedtime gets more adorable in their Classic Pajamas – our favourite style! Made with the softest cotton, and accented with piping and sweet lapels, this pair is both comfy and elegant, perfect for sibling matching with their baby footie or footless onesies.
Now, more than ever, Paper Cape is helping parents outfit their kids with essentials. One of the most important current essentials is a facemask. After hearing from parents how difficult it is to source masks for their kids, especially organic ones, Paper Cape decided to step in and offer a line of unisex cotton masks with adorable embroidered bear faces. The company has partnered with San Francisco’s Homeless Prenatal Program to donate one mask to their families for every one purchased starting with a 100 mask donation!
