Every intricately hand-embroidered piece from MAIRIK holds a story. MAIRIK, meaning “mother” in Armenian, is the creation of designer Janet Karapetian, who aims to revive and preserve the symbolic embroidery styles of her country. Using 2,000 year old embroidery techniques along with a few modern day updates, Karapetian employs Armenian women and Syrian Armenian refugees skilled in this ancient craft.
Breezy linen kaftans, belted dresses, and shirt & skirt sets with detailed embroidery hold special symbolism in every stitch, including well-being and prosperity. The simplicity of Scandinavian design is the modern influence for Karapetian’s chic styles for mother and daughter.
Proudly made in Armenia, the 100% linen styles feature subtle fringe details, motifs from old national Armenian dresses, convenient side pockets, and each style is elegantly packaged in a matching linen envelope.
