Happy birthday, Apartment!
As the first show of Pitti Bimbo 89 day two, we joined in on the celebration of the Apartment’s 10th anniversary. This special section of Pitti Bimbo is dedicated to innovative, sophisticated and original luxury brands that grab the attention of all passersby. The theme of this year’s show was “con la testa fra le nuvole”, translated as “head in the clouds”. Decorated with colourful hot air balloons and beautiful sky shades, we were in awe over the creative stage design. The following brands joined in on the fun: Pero, Michaela Buerger, Velveteen, Amelie et Sophie, and Piccola Ludo.
Pero’s Pitti Bimbo booth was by far the best decorated in the whole fair – adorned with beautiful imagery and trinkets from your wildest imagination. So, we couldn’t wait to see what this one-of-a-kind brand had in store for the runway. To say the least, we weren’t disappointed. Pero’s pieces were designed with beautiful detailing straight out of a storybook. Prints included vintage dolls and garden florals, and all looks were completed with unique statement hats by Lorna Murray. Pero’s use of lightweight floral fabrics in shades of baby pink, blue and yellow created a feeling of innocence and mystique – straight out of a children’s picture book.
One of our favourite collections to grace the catwalk was Michaela Buerger. Known for its delicate knitwear and fun designs, the brand integrated funky graphics to make every piece on the runway uniquely special. Looks were accessorized with sandals and brightly coloured high socks, adding a modern twist to the classic knitwear fabrics. But the collection isn’t just about fun – Michaela Buerger belongs to an empowering collective that employs women in knitwear across Bosnia and Herzegovina. This initiative sends a strong message across the industry, making Michaela Burger a leader in its field.
Velveteen’s shiny metallics and flowing textures shone brighter than the stars. The collection, inspired by “curiosity cabinets” of the past, draws on the excitement of past adventures. Pieces are inspired by flora and fauna, childhood school trips and recollected memories. We absolutely loved the colour palette of the collection – ranging from Beetroot Purple to Loganberry to Angel Blue. This brand continues to surprise us and we are in awe at each collection!
Amelie et Sophie rocked the SS20 runway with incredibly elegant fabrics and refined designs. The collection did a fantastic job experimenting with shapes and proportions, creating unique cuts for the show. Knee-length dresses dressed up with belts, tulle, and flare was a major trend for this collection. These timeless pieces are definitely a must-have for your wardrobe!
Designing with bold, oversized patterns requires talent to master – and Piccola Ludo hit it spot on. Large floral embellishments, polka dots and stripes were the centerpieces of the brand’s SS20 collection. The first half of the line featured bright shades of poppy red, navy, and emerald, while the latter used enchanting soft pinks and greens. This contrast provided versatility to the collection, which we adored!
