We had a fabulous first day discovering everything there is to see at Pitti Bimbo 88! Here are just a few of our highlights from Day 1!
There was no better way kick off to Pitti Bimbo than joining Barbie in Celebration of their 60th anniversary. Growing up, Barbie was always an inspiration and icon. She conveyed the inspiring message you can be anything you want to be, and that she isn’t just a doll, she represents daily lives and helps give shape to little girls dreams and aspirations. In her, girls can see whatever they might desire and, by using their imaginations, their self-awareness increases alongside the goals they would like to achieve. Having the opportunity to celebrate with Mattel and preview the capsule collection by Patrizia Pepe was priceless. Although Barbie has had over 200 different careers, fashion has always been a part of her DNA. The new capsule in collaboration with Patrizia Pepe has a focus on 90’s fashion, streetwear and grunge that will inspire girls worldwide through play and fashion while helping them to discover their very own potential. BONUS each outfit comes in Barbie size too.
Bright, colourful and extravagant! Over the last few years the warmth of Spanish styles have been taking over the Pitti Bimbo runway during the Children’s Fashions from Spain show and this season’s collections were showstoppers! Participating brands included Abel & Lula, Amaya, Boboli, Mayorla, Tartaleta and tuc tuc
Stefano Cavalleri celebrated 40 years designing for children here at Pitti Bimbo 88. More than collections, he built extraordinary worlds through his designs with generous creativity that included shoes, cabs, bags toys and fairytales, completely reserved for children; a special something dedicated to only their world. Cavalleri’s career highlights include 30 years as the Creative Director of I Pinco Pallino and in 2011 QUIS QUIS became the new trademark for Stefano Cavalleri, taking luxury children’s wear to a higher level.
Today, in the Show Box, a special event was held to commemorate Cavalleri’s career through the images of Mauro Belletti!
Hello Kitty also celebrated her 45th anniversary and the festivities kicked off at Pitti Bimbo! This icon has touched the hearts of women and girls of all ages, inspired artists and designers for over four decades. Brands plan to celebrate this special occasion with Hello Kitty, Monnalisa, Melissa and MC2 Saint Barth all have capsule collections, there are surely more to come!
The night ended with a magical 2019 AW collection by Il Gufo. We loved the contrast and new exploration of fabrics, and colours.
